WLCT Sports Development are pleased to announce that from January 2014 all ‘Back to Sport’ sessions delivered within WLCT venues will be accessible to WLCT Leisure Centre ‘Profiles Plus’ gym members for FREE.
The ‘Back to Sport’ programme is public health funded and offers opportunities for anyone over the age of 16 years to play recreational sport in a fun friendly environment, without the commitment of joining a sports club. All sessions are coach led and allow you to learn new skills, whilst keeping active and improving your health.
This is an amazing offer for current gym members and is unique to the borough of Wigan. For a full list of sessions see below.
All sessions are still accessible to non ’Profiles Plus’ members at a reduced rate of just £3 per session. All that is required is a WLCT lifestyles card (free of charge) that can be collected at any of our leisure centres.

The Wigan ‘Back to Netball’ Team or B2N as they are now known, were formed through Wigan Sports Development’s Back to Sport programme.
As well as offering advice and guidance throughout the initial stages of the team’s formation, Back to Sport approached local businesses offering a variety of sponsorship packages. They have now teamed up with The Trophy Room and housebuilder Redrow to receive a combined £400 contribution towards their development.
Back to Sport coach Stephen Dixon explains: “When a group of players from our Back to Netball session decided to form a team, we were keen to support them and contributed £200 towards their league fees. Scoring the support of The Trophy Room and Redrow will help the team continue to develop and we’re grateful to them both for their contribution.”

Congratulations to Wirral Gems and B2N who won their respective leagues in this month’s Wigan Back to Netball League on Saturday.
Wirral Gems were very impressive in winning every game in Division 1 and retaining the title they won at last month’s tournament. Although Tyldesley Storm pushed them all the way, only losing by 2 goals in what turned out to be the deciding fixture.
B2N gained promotion into Division 1. They won 3 of their 4 games and drew the other one to finish just one point in front of Hindsford, who also finished in their highest position so far.
The improvement in many of the teams, particularly in Division 2 has been clear for everyone to see and it is credit to the time and effort they put in away from the league to continue this improvement.
The next round of fixtures for the Back to Netball League will be held on Saturday 9th November. We are always looking for new teams to enter, so if you are interested in joining contact Richard Smith on 01942 488480 or via e-mail at email@example.com
