This will be the first course of Wigan Sports Development's 10th Coach Education programme. | On Sunday 15th August 8 teams took part in the annual Ashton Football Cup at St.Edmund Arrowsmith High School. The tournament involving 6 youth teams from Ashton and Bryn was jointly organised by Greater Manchester Police and Wigan Sports Development and was played out in a league format with two groups of four teams.

| Teams from across Greater Manchester descended on Leigh Sports Village in July for the Greater Manchester Disability Games.
It is the second year Wigan Borough has had the honour of hosting the prestigious games for young people aged 11-16, and this year got to keep a few gold medals of their own.

| Over the 10th/11th July 2010 Wigan (Wasps) S.C. took a squad of swimmers to compete at a swimming meet held by the City of Leeds Swimming Club, at the John Charles Centre for sport. | Wigan Sports Development Unit will once again be running a full programme of multi sports activities throughout the Summer holidays.
The team will be running 12, week long camps at various locations across the borough and they are a fantastic opportunity to try out a range of different sports, in a fun environment with highly trained coaches. Camps will run from 9am-4pm and cost just £7 per day or £35 for the week.

| Sport England is launching a new initiative - A Day for Sport, which will take place on 15th July 2010. The aim of the day is to get more Sport England employees directly helping people play and enjoy sport.
The day will see a number of people exchange the office for the ‘frontline’, volunteering at various locations across the country to support a range of sporting activities, from assisting coaches in delivering sport to maintaining facilities (whether that’s helping paint the clubhouse, mowing the pitch, or sweeping the courts!)
