The 12th Annual Wigan Borough Sports Awards

Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s Sports Development Unit will be hosting the 12^th Annual Wigan Borough Sports Awards on Friday 12^th October  2012 at the DW Stadium.  The awards aim to celebrate those who have made an outstanding contribution to sport in Wigan and have achieved sporting success over the last twelve months. With it being an Olympic and Paralympic year, we are looking to make this years awards the biggest and best yet!

 

The event is in it’s twelfth year and has grown in size, stature and reputation each year with the event being the largest and of the highest quality across the ten Greater Manchester Boroughs.  The evening includes a three course meal, presentation of the awards, guest speakers, a raffle and a disco, and is considered as one of the largest events in the sports development calendar.

 

There are seven categories which individuals and clubs can be entered for through the nomination process, which are as follows:-

 

• Coach of the Year
• Club of the Year
• Sports Achiever of the Year
• Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year
• Volunteer in Sport of the Year
• The Wilf Brogan Unsung Hero in Sport Award

•   Team of the Year (exclusive to Wigan Awards)

The winners of the first six categories will go forward to represent Wigan at the Greater Manchester Awards in November 2012.

 

I am writing to invite you to nominate an individual, club or team in any of the categories above for their hard work, determination and achievements in the last 12 months.  The awards are the ideal opportunity to reward an individual in your club, your coach, a volunteer behind the scenes, or a sports achiever that has performed well or even just attended every session.

 

When nominating please ensure that you include as much information as possible regarding their achievements, commitment and work over the last 12 months.  The closing date to return nominations is Friday 10^th August  2012.

 

Every nominee will receive a complimentary ticket to the evening with extra tickets also available for family and friends to purchase at a cost of £26 each.

 

I would encourage you to take the time to fill out the nomination form to recognise and reward an individual, team or club that truly deserves it.
